Before buying it last year, Kelsea Ballerini had her sights set on the Nashville home of fellow country songstress Kacey Musgraves for quite some time.
“I saw this house on Zillow, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is my house,’” Ballerini told podcast host Alex Cooper in a recent episode of the latter’s show, Call Her Daddy. “I tried to buy it. It didn’t work out. Another wonderful, amazing artist bought it,” she continued, referring to Musgraves, who purchased the property in 2020 from AD100 designer Louisa Pierce for $1.9 million.
It was the “High Horse” singer’s divorce from singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly that prompted Musgraves to buy the serene dwelling. “I wanted a place that felt like me,” she told AD in a May 2022 tour of the abode, “where I could express myself without having to think about another person and what they might want. This felt like a new beginning.”
Meanwhile, Ballerini had settled on a property less than a mile away that she “never really loved.” When the Tennessee native and her husband of five years, Australian country music singer Morgan Evans, filed for divorce in August 2022, Ballerini thought again of the dreamy home. She texted Musgraves to express her interest in the property and heard back from the six-time Grammy winner less than a month later.
The traditional-style four-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot pad changed hands for $2.5 million. “We didn’t use real estate agents,” Ballerini said. “It was woman-to-woman.”

A recent Instagram post of Ballerini’s offers a peek into the main living space of the house, showcasing a similar setup to its days under Musgraves’s ownership. The creamy white and dusty pink color scheme remains intact, while the same mohair-velvet-clad Faina chairs can still be spotted in the dining room.
“She was like, ‘This was my healing house,’” Ballerini said, quoting Musgraves. “It makes me a little emo.”
