It looks like Brad Pitt is seeking a fresh start, according to a recent report from People. A real estate source told the gossip mag that the Babylon actor is seeking $40 million for his longtime Los Feliz residence where he and Angelina Jolie raised their six children. Following their contentious 2016 split, Jolie purchased a nearby $25 million property that was once home to Cecil B. DeMille. The Eternals actor chose the estate in part so that the former couple’s kids could have easy access to their father, according to an interview with British Vogue.

Although the current listing details are yet to be made public, records show that Pitt paid $1.7 million in 1994 for the Craftsman-style main house, which was erected in 1915 and has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms across 6,692 square feet of living space. At the time, the actor was three years past his breakout role as a hitchhiker in Thelma & Louise and gearing up for the release of Interview with a Vampire. In the following years, Pitt expanded the estate by purchasing two adjacent properties. The Bullet Train star tacked on another two neighboring lots when his relationship with Jolie was just starting up in 2005.

Today, the compound reportedly spans just under two acres and holds an expansive swimming pool, a tennis court, and a skate park. Although details are sparse, aerial photography shows that the house sports woodsy dark brown siding, two red brick chimneys, multiple patios, and a large round spa bordering the pool.

According to People’s real estate source, the reason for the actor’s departure from his home of nearly three decades is that he is “looking for something smaller” in the Los Angeles area. Although Pitt and Jolie were legally declared single in 2019, the exes are still negotiating child custody and their financial assets… and it isn’t exactly amicable. The ongoing divorce proceedings involve several lawsuits and abuse allegations.
